Celebrated Members

The HCRAG is privileged to have many of its members recognized in the annual “Celebration of Rugs'' competition. Many of our members who have been recognized by “Celebrations” as well as photos of their celebrated rugs are included here.

The Guild is proud to announce that three of its members have been accepted for inclusion in the 2023.

Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs 33, a premier juried collection of the year’s best hand-hooked rugs sponsored by Rug Hooking Magazine. The Second Place winner of this year’s Celebration three top finalists as well as acceptance in the Rugs Based on Original Design category is Dana Psoinas of Woodbury, New York, for "Pandora's Box," 27½" x 51", #2- to 6-cut hand-dyed wool, sparkle wool, velvet, sari silk, and shiny threads on linen. "From the Judges: Wow! I find this is a disturbing rug but definitely thought provoking. The color plan, execution, and interpretation of the subject are exceptional. The details, such as the folds of her dress, are amazing. Congratulations to the artist on a wonderful piece. Awesome – stands out from the usual hooking fare. Great understanding of artistic techniques. Distinguished and intense story rug. The flames and spirit are engrossing." This is Dana’s fourth appearance in Celebration

Also in the Rugs Based on Adaptations category; our Therese Shick of New Hope, Pennsylvania, is honored in Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs 33 for "Squirrel," 18" x 15", #4- to 6-cut hand-dyed and as-is wool on linen. (Therese used wool strips of many different colors and textures). "From the Judges: The cat's eyes just grab your attention. Great fur. Great color and detail." This is Therese’s fourth appearance in Celebration

We are honored to have our members accepted in Celebration and to share in the recognition of their beautiful creations. Our Guild members are continually inspired by these very talented artisans in our midst!
